Thursdays, 10:00AM-Noon COST: $10 per session

Enjoy time with others and practice drawing or painting techniques. We will provide a challenging still life, easels or drawing tables. You provide your media, surface, and joy! This is open studio time rather than an instructed class.

We welcome all adults and home schooled high schoolers, as well.

 

Exploring Outdoor painting with Steve Puttrich
SEPTEMBER 28, 9:00AM-4:00PM COST: $35

Steve Puttrich earned degrees in Architectural Illustration, Graphic Design and Fine Art at the American Academy of Art.  After a 35-year career as artist, designer, and VP of Creative Services and Innovation at Parsons Corporation, he and his wife Bobbie now enjoy painting full-time around the country. Steve teaches at Chicago’s Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art and until recently was Artist in Residence for the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, where he is a highly regarded mentor. www.stephenputtrich.com

This workshop is designed to provide both aspiring and seasoned artists with an opportunity to improve their skills, explore new perspectives, and draw inspiration from the natural environment.


 

Carol Strock Wasson: Loosen Up with Pastel
August 8-11 Cost: $440

Carol is a Master with the Pastel Society of America and has been featured in Plein Air, Outdoor Painter, and Fine Art Connoisseur magazines.  She will teach fundamentals of structure, value and color harmony, as well as many tools and techniques to loosen up your paintings and utilize the great versatility of the medium.  The workshop will be taught in studio.


 

John Preston: Getting Confident with Watercolor
July 12-14 Cost: $330

John has painted outdoors for nearly 40 years and is a beloved teacher throughout the Midwest.  He will teach the properties of watercolor and paper that enable students to make decisions as they paint, rather than hope for “happy outcomes,” as well as strategies for on-site painting.   The workshop will be taught in studio and en plein air.


 

Hector Acuna: Observational Painting: Studio and Plein Air
June 27-30 Cost: $440

Hector was named the M. Stephen Doherty Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2023 Plein Air Convention & Expo and was featured in the Oct/Nov issue of Plein Air Magazine.  His workshop will guide students through an in-depth series of slideshow presentations, live demonstrations, homework assignments, and group critiques covering various observational painting methods.  Demos will be in oil, but other media are welcome.  The workshop will be taught in studio and en plein air.
