Drawing is as much about seeing as it is about creating an image. Strengthen your seeing skills, which will in turn, unlock the skills needed to make more accurate drawings. By observing still life objects, students will learn to utilize negative space, sight measurement, and value relationships. These building blocks of drawing apply to any subject, style, and technique, and are the foundation to all two-dimensional art making.
Course sessions will include:
· Brief lectures and visual presentations to introduce concepts
· Demonstration and instruction of various drawing exercises which will strengthen seeing/drawing skills
· Suggested skill building exercises to work on between class sessions
· Introduction to drawing media and techniques
· Instruction for fully developed still life drawings (Contour Drawing, Charcoal Drawing, and Reverse Value Drawing)
· Open studio time to work on drawings
